Srinagar, Sept 4: At least seven residents from Kashmir’s Tulail area in Bandipora district are feared dead after a massive landslide struck Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Thursday.
The victims, all labourers, were working in Himachal when the tragedy occurred. Rescue operations are underway.
According to the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the landslide caused the collapse of two houses, with 12–13 people feared trapped. “Our team carried out collapsed structure search and rescue (CSSR) operations, rescuing three injured persons and recovering one body. Efforts are on to locate the remaining victims,” the NDRF said in a statement on X.
The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Office expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in Kullu and assured that all possible assistance would be provided to the affected families.
