Speculation Grows Over J&K Statehood as PM Modi, Amit Shah Meet President

Talks of restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood have gained momentum on social media following back-to-back meetings between President Droupadi Murmu and both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

These high-level meetings have taken place just days before the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, fueling speculation about a potential political shift in the region.

Sources revealed that Shah has also met with several J&K leaders, including the BJP’s regional chief, and that PM Modi has called for an important meeting of NDA MPs on Tuesday.

On August 3, PM Modi visited the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, but no official details were released—a move considered unusual, as such meetings typically include a statement from the Press Information Bureau.

Later the same day, Amit Shah also had a private discussion with the President. In the days prior, Shah had also met with J&K BJP chief Sat Sharma and Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta.

Additionally, on Monday, Imran Raza Ansari, president of the All J&K Shia Association, met Shah to share ground-level insights from the Union Territory.
