To enhance passenger convenience and to manage the anticipated surge in pilgrim traffic during the upcoming summer season, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has decided to extend the operational period of the reserved special express train, Train No. 04081/04082 (New Delhi–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–New Delhi). The operation of this special train is expected to significantly increase the likelihood of passengers securing confirmed tickets.
According to Shri Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, this extension has been granted in light of the train’s immense popularity and the 100% occupancy (full passenger capacity) recorded during its previous runs. This service has proven to be an affordable and convenient option not only for devotees traveling to Katra but also for tourists heading to Kashmir and passengers boarding at intermediate stations along the route.
The extended schedule for the train will be as follows:
*Train No. 04081* (New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra): This train will operate from April 15 to July 15, comprising a total of 40 runs.
*Train No. 04082* (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi): This train will operate from April 16 to July 16, comprising a total of 40 runs.
Regarding the timings and stoppages of the special train: Train No. 04081 will depart from New Delhi at 11:45 PM and arrive at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 12:00 PM (noon) the following day.
Train No. 04082 will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 9:00 PM and arrive at New Delhi at 10:00 AM the following morning. During its journey, the special train will halt in both directions at Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu, and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan railway stations.
This special train will comprise a total of 21 coaches. Passengers can book their tickets for these extended trips through the official IRCTC website, the mobile app, or authorized railway reservation centers (PRS counters).
Passengers are requested to verify the latest status and schedule of the train via the railway enquiry number 139 or the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) before commencing their journey.
