Mendhar/Jammu, Sept 1: Indian Army troops on Monday thwarted an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Poonch district, officials said.
According to reports, soldiers deployed on the LoC detected suspicious movement of a group of terrorists trying to cross over from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir near Dabbi village in Balakote area during the early hours.
Troops immediately challenged the infiltrators, triggering heavy exchange of fire. However, there were no immediate reports of casualties on either side.
The Army has since cordoned off the area and launched a massive search operation to track down the infiltrators, officials added.
