Srinagar, Sep 8: Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Monday said that 40 schools in flood-affected areas will stay closed until conditions improve to ensure children’s health and education are not compromised.
She said the closure was due to floods that damaged cleanliness in schools and led to their use as shelters for displaced families. “Forty schools have been shut because of floods, cleanliness issues, and the people who are still staying in these schools,” she said, as per KNS.
The minister added that schools will reopen once the situation stabilizes. “We will ensure there is no risk to children’s health or education. The rest of the schools in other areas will remain open,” she clarified.
