Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh commissioned INS Mahendragiri, the sixth Project 17A stealth frigate, at Visakhapatnam on July 11, 2026. Built with 75% indigenous content, the frontline warship is a testament to India’s growing defence manufacturing capabilities under Aatma nirbhar Bharat.The Raksha Mantri said INS Mahendragiri will strengthen the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities, enhance India’s blue-water reach, and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to building a technologically advanced and combat-ready Navy.
