Shri Ashok Kumar Lahiri, Vice Chairperson, NITI Aayog, delivered the Teacher’s Day Oration at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, on ‘Reimagining Healthcare for Viksit Bharat2047’
He highlighted India’s significant progress in healthcare and emphasised the need to shift the focus from reducing mortality to reducing morbidity, with greater emphasis on prevention, early detection, healthy ageing and quality care
He underscored the importance of addressing India’s epidemiological, demographic and nutrition transitions, strengthening primary and community healthcare, leveraging digital health and building a multidisciplinary health workforce
He also highlighted the role of academic medical institutions such as ILBS as anchors of change, generating Indian evidence, advancing research and innovation, developing future-ready health professionals and translating evidence into programmes and policy.
