Asia Cup: BCCI Announces ₹21 Crore Prize for Unbeaten Champions India

Mumbai, Sept 29: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a prize money of ₹21 crore for the Indian cricket team and its support staff following their unbeaten triumph in the Asia Cup, capped by a five-wicket win over Pakistan in the final in Dubai on Sunday.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the gesture was in recognition of the team’s extraordinary performance. “It was an extraordinary victory and therefore as part of celebrations, BCCI has announced a cash award of ₹21 crore in favour of the players and support staff who were part of the Indian team in the Asia Cup,” Saikia told.

While the board did not disclose the detailed break-up of the prize, Saikia said the reward reflects the pride of the cricketing fraternity and the nation. “That money will be distributed. This is a big reward for our team, the Indian cricket board as well as the people of India. We are extremely proud of our cricketers and the support staff for their superb performance in Dubai,” he added.

The BCCI also celebrated the victory on social media, posting: “Three blows. 0 response. Asia Cup Champions. Message delivered. (₹)21 crores prize money for the team and support staff.”

India’s dominant run saw them finish the tournament unbeaten, winning all seven of their matches. BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla hailed the effort, saying: “The undefeated champions of ASIA. Congratulations Team India on a dominating win and 3-0 against Pak. Marvellous display by Tilak Verma and @imkuldeep18. A great show under pressure.”
