India, Saudi Arabia Sign Bilateral Haj Agreement; 1.75 Lakh Quota Fixed for 2026

New Delhi, Nov 10: India and Saudi Arabia have signed the Bilateral Haj Agreement for 2026, confirming a quota of 175,025 pilgrims from India for the annual pilgrimage, the Ministry of Minority Affairs said on Sunday.

Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who was on an official visit to Saudi Arabia from November 7 to 9, signed the agreement in Jeddah after holding a meeting with Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed ongoing Haj arrangements and focused on improving coordination, transport, accommodation, and health services to make the pilgrimage smoother for Indian pilgrims.

After the meeting, the two countries signed the Bilateral Haj Agreement 2026, confirming the quota and reaffirming their joint efforts to streamline Haj operations.

Rijiju also held review meetings with officials from the Embassy of India in Riyadh and the Consulate General of India in Jeddah to assess Haj preparations. He appreciated their coordination with Saudi authorities to ensure the comfort and welfare of Indian pilgrims.

As part of his visit, the minister inspected key Haj-related sites in Jeddah and Taif, including Terminal 1 and Haramain Station, and met members of the Indian community.

In a post on X, Rijiju said, “A significant step in strengthening India–Saudi Arabia ties. Signed the Bilateral Haj Agreement with H.E. Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah. Haj quota of 175,025 secured for Indian pilgrims for 2026.”

He added that both countries share a strong commitment to ensuring a safe and spiritually fulfilling Haj experience for all pilgrims.

The ministry said the visit marks an important milestone in India–Saudi Arabia relations and reflects a shared commitment to cultural exchange and community welfare. Rijiju was accompanied by senior officials Aseem R. Mahajan and Ram Singh. The visit was undertaken at the invitation of the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah.
