Srinagar, Nov 10: Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted a major interstate and transnational terror module with links to proscribed outfits Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), arresting seven people including two doctors and recovering 2,900 kilograms of explosives, arms, and ammunition.
According to a police spokesperson, coordinated searches were conducted across Jammu and Kashmir and other states, leading to the arrests of key operatives and the seizure of a large cache of weapons and explosive materials.
The investigation began after multiple JeM posters threatening police and security forces were found pasted at various locations in Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar, on October 19, 2025. A case (FIR No. 162/2025) was registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosives Act, Arms Act, and other relevant sections.
Police said the probe uncovered a “white-collar terror network” involving radicalized professionals and students who were in contact with handlers based in Pakistan and other countries. The group reportedly used encrypted communication channels for coordination, fund transfer, and logistics. Funds were raised through professional and academic networks under the guise of social and charitable initiatives.
The accused were allegedly involved in identifying and radicalizing individuals, recruiting them into terror ranks, raising funds, and arranging logistics and material for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Those arrested have been identified as Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, and Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid — all residents of Nowgam, Srinagar; Molvi Irfan Ahmad, an Imam from Shopian; Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlasha from Wakura, Ganderbal; Dr. Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie alias Musaib from Koil, Pulwama; and Dr. Adeel from Wanpora, Kulgam.
Police said the role of more individuals has surfaced and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend them. Raids were conducted in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, and Shopian, as well as in Faridabad (Haryana) and Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh), in coordination with local police units.
Recovered items include a Chinese Star pistol with ammunition, a Beretta pistol with ammunition, an AK-56 rifle, an AK Krinkov rifle, and about 2,900 kilograms of IED-making material consisting of explosives, chemicals, electronic circuits, remote controls, timers, wires, and metal sheets.
Police said financial investigations into fund flow and network linkages are ongoing, and further arrests are expected as the probe continues.
