Delhi blast: Mother of suspected car driver called for DNA test in Pulwama

Srinagar, Nov 11: Police on Tuesday took the mother of the man suspected to have been driving the car that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort for a DNA test in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

“We have taken the suspect’s mother to collect DNA samples to match with the remains found at the blast site,” an official said.

The suspect, identified as Dr Umar Nabi from Koil village in Pulwama, was allegedly driving the Hyundai i20 car that exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station’s parking area on Monday, killing at least 12 people, officials added.

Two of Umar Nabi’s brothers accompanied their mother to the hospital for the test.

Meanwhile, police have detained three people connected to the sale and purchase of the car used in the blast for questioning, officials said.
