Srinagar, Nov 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police have sought Interpol’s assistance to issue a Red Corner Notice against Dr. Muzaffar, a resident of Qazigund, in connection with the interstate “white-collar” terror module busted earlier this week, officials said on Thursday.
Dr. Muzaffar is the brother of Dr. Adeel, one of the eight people — including three doctors — arrested in the case linked to the Red Fort blast. Of the eight arrested, seven are from Kashmir.
According to officials, Muzaffar’s name surfaced during the interrogation of the arrested suspects. He was reportedly part of a group of doctors who travelled to Turkiye in 2021, along with Dr. Muzammil Ganaie and Dr. Umar Nabi — the latter believed to have been driving the explosives-laden car that detonated outside the Red Fort on Monday, killing 13 people.
Police said efforts to trace Muzaffar revealed that he had left India for Dubai in August and is now suspected to be in Afghanistan. The three doctors are believed to have stayed in Turkiye for 21 days during their visit.
Meanwhile, Turkiye’s Directorate of Communications Centre for Countering Disinformation issued a statement on Wednesday denying any involvement in radicalisation or terror-related activities.
“The media reports claiming that Turkiye is linked to terrorist acts in India and provides logistical, diplomatic, or financial support to terrorist groups are part of a malicious disinformation campaign aimed at damaging bilateral relations,” the statement said.
It further clarified that allegations suggesting Turkiye engages in radicalisation targeting India or any other country are “baseless and without factual support.”
