Normal Operations Resume at Srinagar Airport After Snowfall, Six Delhi Flights Cancelled

Srinagar: Flight operations at Srinagar Airport returned to normal on Saturday morning, a day after snowfall disrupted air traffic and led to the cancellation of several flights, officials said. However, six flights to and from Delhi were cancelled due to temporary airspace restrictions imposed ahead of Republic Day celebrations.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the cancellations were caused by a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued for Delhi Airport. The NOTAM was in effect from 10:20 am to 12:45 pm, during which airspace restrictions led to the cancellation of six Delhi-bound and incoming flights.

The official said that apart from these cancellations, flight operations at Srinagar Airport have largely normalised, with arrivals and departures from various parts of the country operating as per schedule.

Passengers were advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines to get the latest updates on flight schedules before proceeding to the airport.

On Friday, more than a dozen flights were cancelled after the season’s first snowfall in Srinagar caused poor visibility and runway closure, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at the airport.
