Samba: A Pakistani national was shot dead by Border Security Force personnel while attempting to illegally cross into Indian territory along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir late Sunday night, officials said.
According to officials, the incident took place near a border outpost in the Majra area of the Ramgarh sector, where BSF troops noticed suspicious movement close to the border fence. The intruder was challenged by alert personnel and asked to stop.
However, the individual ignored repeated warnings and continued advancing towards the Indian side under the cover of darkness, prompting the BSF troops to open fire in accordance with standard operating procedures. The intruder was killed on the spot.
Officials said the body of the deceased Pakistani national is lying near the International Border and further identification and legal formalities are being carried out.
