DC Ramban inspects CMTC Ramban; reviews skill development initiatives under UMEED
RAMBAN, FEBRUARY 10: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today inspected the Community Managed Training Centre (CMTC), Ramban, established under the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (UMEED), Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, to review its operational status and assess the impact of skill development initiatives being imparted to rural communities, particularly women Self-Help Group (SHG) members.
During the inspection, Chief Planning Officer Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather and the District Programme Manager NRLM/UMEED Ramban briefed about the ongoing training programmes, operational framework and future plans of the centre. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the training infrastructure, interacted with trainees and trainers to assess the quality of skill-based programmes being conducted.
Interacting with the trainees, the DC emphasized the importance of such community-managed training facilities in promoting sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance among rural households. He also stressed aligning training modules with market demand to ensure beneficiaries can secure viable employment or establish their own enterprises.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the Rural Livelihoods Mission in creating a supportive platform for capacity building, noting that CMTC Ramban has strong potential to enhance grassroots economic development and women empowerment. He directed the concerned officers to ensure regular monitoring, improved outreach and enhanced training quality so that maximum eligible beneficiaries can benefit from the initiative.
The Deputy Commissioner assured full cooperation in strengthening skill development initiatives under UMEED/NRLM to foster self-employment opportunities, promote women empowerment and accelerate socio-economic development across Ramban district.
