JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 17: Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta today chaired a meeting with State Heads of Insurance Companies here at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo to expedite the process claims under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for crop loss induced by heavy rains and landslides in the region.
The meeting stressed on strengthening coordination among the Agriculture Department and Insurance Companies for timely clearance of the Insurance claims.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director (SLUB/Farms) S. Sohan Singh; Deputy Director (Planning) Priyanka Parihar; State Head Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Sonu Kashyap; State Head Reliance General Insurance Mahavir Singh: Nodal Officer PMFBY (DAJ) Anirudh Bhat, besides other functionaries from insurance companies and the Agriculture department.
The meeting was informed that the preliminary reports suggest that over 1.03 lakh hectare land has been affected in Jammu Division, with 1.00 lakh hectare suffering more than 33% damage.
The Director asked the insurance companies to immediately deploy their field staff in the affected areas and work in close coordination with functionaries of Agriculture department at the Panchayat level for awareness generation, timely crop loss intimation, and on-ground assessment. He further instructed all Chief Agriculture Officers of Jammu Division to ensure accurate crop-cutting surveys so that the actual extent of damage is assessed properly. Insurance companies were also asked to share data of CC Agri Mobile App training of officers with the Directorate.
The representatives of Insurance Companies assured full cooperation and support to the farming community and committed to working in close coordination with the Agriculture Department to ensure quick claim processing and timely relief to farmers.
