Army Northern Commander Calls for Proactive Measures Against Rising Terror Threats in Jammu

Jammu, Nov 16: Army’s Northern Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Sunday reviewed the counter-terrorism grid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district and urged security forces to stay alert and proactive against emerging threats in the hinterland.

The Army chief visited Basantgarh and Rampur, areas that have witnessed several terror incidents over the past few years.

“Lt Gen Pratik Sharma visited Basantgarh and, Rampur to review the counter terrorism grid. He exhorted all ranks to remain vigilant and proactive against emerging threats in the hinterland,” the Northern Command said in a post on X.

During the visit, the Commander interacted with troops on ground and lauded their professionalism, dedication, and efforts in maintaining security in the region.

On Saturday, Lt Gen Sharma also visited the Nowshera and Bimber Gali sectors in Rajouri district to assess operational preparedness along the Line of Control.

He was briefed on enhanced surveillance systems, precision engagement capabilities, and upgraded operational measures aimed at strengthening the defensive posture. The Commander commended the troops for their high morale, discipline, and continued operational efficiency.
