RAMBAN, DECEMBER 11: The Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner Ramban, in collaboration with JK Bank organized an awareness camp at village Perhinder Neel to enhance outreach of social security and welfare schemes among construction workers of the district.
The programme aimed to educate workers about their entitlements under the newly implemented Labour Codes and the benefits offered by the J&K Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from construction workers, who gathered to understand the significant reforms introduced through the new Labour Codes.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, Amit Kumar briefed the attendees about key provisions related to workers’ rights including timely wage payments, occupational safety and access to crucial social security benefits covering healthcare, education support, old age protection and pension schemes. He stressed the role of awareness in empowering workers to claim their lawful entitlements.
The ALC also highlighted the benefits available under JKBOCWWB, including medical assistance, maternity benefits, skill development support and housing-related aid. Workers were encouraged to enroll and renew their registrations to avail these benefits without interruption. On-spot disbursement of assistance under the Chronic Disease Scheme was also made in favour of two labour card holders.
Representatives from JK Bank delivered informative sessions on major social security schemes, including PMSYM, PMSBY, PMJJBY and APY, explaining pension entitlements, accidental insurance coverage and long-term financial protection for unorganized sector workers.
Officials provided on-spot services, including redressal of grievances, registrations and renewals under JKBOCWWB. The officials renewed 12 labour cards, submitted 11 forms under PMSBY and PMJJBY and distributed over 50 registration forms.
