Jammu, Aug 5: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held widespread celebrations across the Union Territory on Monday to commemorate the anniversary of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A.
From urban centers to remote border villages, BJP members organized public events, hoisted the national flag, and held Tiranga Yatras and patriotic gatherings, marking the historic move made on August 5, 2019, by the Narendra Modi-led government.
Speaking at a public gathering in Akhnoor, J&K BJP President Sat Sharma highlighted that the removal of Articles 370 and 35A has ensured constitutional equality, dignity, and rights for all citizens of the region. He emphasized that this day represents a collective victory for justice and upliftment of marginalized communities in J&K.
Sharma was joined by several leaders including DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan, MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat, DDC Vice Chairman Suraj Singh, BJP District In-Charge Brijeshwar Rana, and District President Kuldeep Raj Sharma.
BJP General Secretary Ashok Koul noted that the decision to scrap Articles 370 and 35A has ushered in a new era of development and good governance in the region. He added that welfare schemes are now reaching the most disadvantaged segments of society without obstruction.
Senior BJP leaders took part in various programmes throughout Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming their commitment to shaping a progressive and integrated Jammu & Kashmir. These events witnessed enthusiastic public participation and showcased the growing sense of unity and national pride under BJP’s leadership.
