JAMMU — Jammu and Kashmir’s Cabinet Minister, Satish Sharma, today visited several waterlogged areas in Jammu, including Akhnoor, and Chhamb, to assess the situation following heavy rainfall. The Minister waded through inundated streets to get a first-hand look at the damage and the challenges faced by local residents.
Sharma, who also holds the portfolios of Food, Civil Supplies, and Transport, interacted with affected families and assured them that the CM Jenab Omar Abdullah has instructed all ministers and adminstration that people should get government’s full support during this difficult time. He directed officials to expedite relief and rehabilitation efforts, including the provision of temporary shelters, food supplies, and medical aid. The Minister emphasized the need for a swift and comprehensive response to restore normalcy and provide timely compensation for damaged property and crops.
He also instructed officials to work on a war footing to restore essential services like road connectivity, power, and water supply. Sharma’s visit aims to instill confidence among the affected population and ensure that the administration is fully mobilized to mitigate the impact of the floods
