Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chaired a high-level review meeting to take stock of the preparations and launched the promotional video of this flagship sporting spectacle, which will now be held on November 2, 2025. The CM emphasized that the event must go beyond being just a marathon and become a complete cultural and tourism experience, encouraging visitors to explore Kashmir’s hospitality, cuisine, and heritage. This year’s edition will feature a Full Marathon (42.19 km), Half Marathon (21.09 km) and a 10 km Run, with the route covering iconic Srinagar locations like Lal Chowk, Rajbagh, TRC, Nishat Garden, and SKICC, offering runners a stunning autumn backdrop. The event will also host a Marathon Expo and a Gala Cultural Evening to engage athletes, tourists, and locals, and to showcase Kashmiri art, craft, and traditions. The CM also directed officials to work with hotels, restaurants, and local businesses to offer special packages for participants, thus boosting local economy and tourism. Stressing sustainability, the marathon will engage school children, NGOs, and volunteers as “eco-volunteers” for route clean-up and green initiatives. With professional event management, attractive branding, athlete facilities, and world-class logistics, Kashmir Marathon-2025 is being positioned as a premier sporting event that combines fitness, tourism, and community spirit – truly celebrating the soul of the Valley.
