Baramulla, Sep 8: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a meeting at Dak Bungalow to review the implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme 2.0 (VVP-II) in the district.
Officials informed that 18 border villages in Baramulla have been identified under VVP-II for focused development. The programme targets 10 key areas including livelihood generation, financial inclusion, infrastructure, skill development, tourism, and education to uplift remote habitations.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said VVP-II is both a developmental and strategic initiative to ensure inclusive growth in border villages. He directed departments to nominate officers for the identified villages to conduct baseline surveys, assess infrastructural gaps, and prepare village-specific development plans in consultation with local communities.
The DC also asked the nodal officer to train the members for efficient planning and execution. Departments were further instructed to organize cultural events, outreach programmes, and Gram Sabhas to spread awareness about government schemes and benefits.
Emphasizing transparency, the DC said all data submitted at the field level must be accurate to ensure effective planning and timely implementation.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Baramulla Nisar Ahmad, SDM Uri Shubhankar Pratyush Pathak, and other district and sectoral officers.
