DEO Kathua appeals for active participation in Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision
Process starts from March 27; Panchayat level camps being held on weekends
KATHUA, MARCH 28: District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kathua Rajesh Sharma today appealed to the general public to actively participate in the ongoing Annual Revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll, which commenced on March 27 and shall continue till April 29, 2026.
Highlighting the significance of the exercise here at a press briefing, the District Election Officer informed that the Panchayat Electoral Roll is distinct from the Assembly Electoral Roll and urged citizens to ensure their enrolment separately. He said that April 1, 2026 has been fixed as the qualifying date for registration as a voter in the Panchayat Electoral Roll.
“The revision process includes addition, deletion and correction of entries,” the District Election Officer said and added that a comprehensive door-to-door survey is being conducted to ensure maximum coverage and accuracy of the electoral database.
“To facilitate voters, special camps are being organized at the Panchayat level on Saturdays and Sundays from April 4 to April 26, 2026, where eligible citizens can get themselves registered and update their details,” he said. He also informed that electors can avail registration facilities through Panchayat Secretaries and designated officials.
The District Election Officer further said that local voters residing outside Jammu and Kashmir can also register themselves by submitting the prescribed forms through the notified channels.
He called upon all stakeholders to extend cooperation in the revision process and urged eligible citizens to come forward and ensure their inclusion in the Panchayat Electoral Roll.
Deputy District Election Officer Nagesh Singh and District Information Officer Rajinder Digra were also present at the briefing.
