Eight Shops, Two Houses and Temple Burgled in J&K’s Ramban; Locals Protest

Jammu, Aug 23 — In a major theft incident, unidentified burglars looted eight shops, two residential houses, and a temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, officials said on Saturday.

The burglary took place during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday at Maitra Chowk, triggering strong resentment among residents. Locals staged protests demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits and enhanced security measures in the area.

According to officials, the burgled shops included two general stores, a shoe shop, a hardware store, a workshop, and a garment shop. Both the targeted houses were reportedly locked for the past few days, making them vulnerable to the break-in.

Police have registered a case and launched investigations. Additional forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further incidents and to reassure the local community, officials said.
