Free Medical cum Eye Screening Camp held for drivers, cleaners at Chatroo

KISHTWAR, JANUARY 08: As part of the National Road Safety Month 2026 campaign, a free medical cum eye screening camp was organized for drivers and cleaners here at Chatroo.
The Motor Vehicle Department organized the camp in collaboration with 11 RR Bhandarkot, Health & Ayush Department and with the support of the local Transport Union at the Block Development Office.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer(ARTO), Tasleem Wani; Block Development Officer, Zahid Rashid Mughal; MVI, Robin Parihar; DTI, Karan Singh; ASI, Farooq Ahmed from Fire & Emergency services, officials from Indian Army 11 RR, Health & Ayush Department facilitated the initiative.
Over 100 drivers and cleaners received free medical check-ups and health screenings by a team of medical staff from Indian Army 11 RR Bhandarkot & Health & Ayush Department. Free medicines were also provided to the beneficiaries as per their requirement.
Rapid drug tests of 50 drivers were conducted, besides imparting awareness on safe driving practices and hazards of drug abuse.
Imparting awareness to the participants, the ARTO said that drivers are the key stakeholders in road safety and they need to go for regular health check-ups. “The physical fitness of drivers not only safeguards their personal health but also contributes to overall road safety”, he emphasised.
He thanked the 11 RR Bhandarkot, Chief Medical Officer and District Officer Ayush as well as BDO Inderwal & Transport Union Chatroo for providing necessary support for the programme.
