JAMMU, AUGUST 15: Government departments and educational institutions across Jammu division celebrated the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour. The celebrations included ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag and other related events.
DLSA: The District Legal Services Authority Jammu celebrated the occasion at District Court Complex Janipur, with the theme “Naya Bharat”. Y. P. Bourney, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Jammu hoisted the National Flag and received a Rashtriya Salute from a contingent of J&K Police, accompanied by the National Anthem played by the police band. Judicial officers, ministerial staff and lawyers attended the event. He paid tribute to freedom fighters and emphasised the importance of upholding constitutional values, commending the legal fraternity for safeguarding democratic principles and ensuring access to justice.
Horticulture Department Jammu: Director Horticulture Jammu, Gul Sayed, hoisted the Tricolour at the Directorate of Horticulture, Gole Pully, Talab Tillo in the presence of senior officers and staff. He recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and said that freedom was earned through their selfless contributions.
DHSJ: The Directorate of Health Services Jammu marked the day with a flag hoisting by Deputy Director Health Services (Schemes) Dr. Poonam Sethi, followed by the National Anthem. Tributes were paid to victims of the Kishtwar cloudburst. Flag hoisting ceremonies and Har Ghar Tiranga activities were also held across health facilities in the division.
SHD: The Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu celebrated with a National Flag hoisting by Director Dr. Syed Moin ul Haq, followed by the National Anthem. He urged everyone to cherish freedom and work towards a progressive nation, extending greetings to all staff.
District Jail Jammu: The event was observed in the presence of jail staff, CISF personnel and inmates. Superintendent Jail Dharminder Singh Katoch unfurled the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. Jail staff, medical staff, ministerial staff and retired personnel attended.
District Court Complex Doda: Additional District and Sessions Judge Archana Charak hoisted the National Flag in the presence of judges, lawyers, court staff and members of the public. The event included a parade by security personnel and a cultural performance by students from the Gujjar Bakarwal Hostel. She urged everyone to uphold constitutional values and contribute to national unity and progress.
Agriculture Department Jammu: The Directorate of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, celebrated with a flag hoisting by Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, Anil Gupta, followed by the National Anthem. The theme “Naya Bharat” was highlighted as a commitment to continued progress. Senior officers and staff attended the event.
SCERT Jammu: The State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) J&K, Divisional Office Jammu, celebrated with a National Flag hoisting by Joint Director Prof. Dr. Sindhu Kapoor, followed by the National Anthem. He highlighted the legacy of Independence Day and the role of education in safeguarding democratic ideals.
GDC Ramkote: Principal Prof. (Dr) Rakesh Kumar Koul hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. He congratulated winners of Independence Day events held from 1 to 15 August 2025, and urged students to develop patriotism and responsibility.
GDC Kastigarh: Principal Dr. Koushal Kumar hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. Faculty, students and local dignitaries attended, paying tribute to freedom fighters.
GCOE: At Government College of Education, Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. She reminded students of the sacrifices made for independence and encouraged them to uphold national values.
GMS Patoli Mangotrian: Headmaster Palimohan Gupta hoisted the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. She recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and urged students to uphold patriotism, responsibility and service to the nation.
GCW Gandhi Nagar: Principal, Dr. Geetanjali Andotra hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of senior faculty members, non-teaching staff, NCC ANOs, NSS Programme Officers, the Physical Director and a contingent of NCC cadets and volunteers.
The National Anthem was sung, reinforcing unity and pride. In her address, Dr. Andotra urged students to contribute to nation-building with sincerity and dedication.
GDC Vijaypur: Government Degree College Vijaypur celebrated Independence Day with great zeal and patriotic spirit. The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal of the College, Dr. Ashu Vashisht followed by the soulful rendition of the National Anthem by students and staff.
