J-K Deputy CM Choudhary Moves Delhi HC for Removal of Objectionable Social Media Content

New Delhi, Dec 2: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Tuesday approached the Delhi High Court seeking the removal of allegedly objectionable and defamatory content about him from various social media platforms.

Choudhary, a National Conference leader and MLA from Nowshera, has filed a defamation suit requesting permanent and mandatory injunction against Facebook pages, YouTube channels, and other platforms where the content was posted.

Justice Amit Bansal noted during the hearing that the plaintiff had not submitted transcripts of the allegedly defamatory material, making it difficult for the court to assess the claims. He said the suit mentioned specific recordings and videos, but no transcripts were provided.

The court also pointed out that some of the entities named in the suit were incorrect, and advised Choudhary’s counsel to implead the correct ones, including Meta Platforms.

Meta and Google were directed to provide details of the uploaders of the impugned content to the plaintiff.

The court has listed the case for further hearing on January 13, 2026, and asked Choudhary to submit the transcripts and URLs of the alleged defamatory content before the next date.

Choudhary’s counsel said the objectionable content, which carries sexual undertones, had been circulating for about two years and many URLs were linked to media reports.
