Srinagar, Sept 5: Srinagar Traffic Police on Friday dismissed rumours circulating on social media and some news channels that challans were being issued for vehicles parked on flyovers and higher grounds to protect them from floods.
SSP Traffic Srinagar Aijaz Ahmad clarified, “Some posts and reports have wrongly shown our personnel issuing challans to such vehicles. This is completely false — no such action has been taken.”
He urged citizens not to believe misinformation and assured that traffic police understand the extraordinary situation. “We strongly refute these baseless reports and appeal to people not to pay heed to rumours,” the SSP said.
