Jammu, Nov 14: A junior pharmacist who was brutally assaulted two days ago in Mendhar, Poonch, has succumbed to his injuries.
Officials said that Shabir Ahmad Choudhary, a resident of Dharna Mendhar and posted at Sub Centre Chattri, was attacked by unidentified persons on November 12 while he was on his way to duty.
He was first taken to Sub-District Hospital Mendhar, then shifted to GMC Rajouri, and later referred to GMC Jammu due to the seriousness of his condition.
BMO Mendhar, Dr. Ashfaq Choudhary, confirmed that Shabir had sustained multiple fractures along with severe lung and liver injuries. He passed away on Friday.
Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation. A police official said that some leads have been found, and a few suspects have already been detained for questioning.
