Sopore, Nov 12: In a major coordinated operation, Sopore Police on Wednesday conducted extensive raids across multiple areas of Police District Sopore, targeting individuals and premises linked to the banned organization Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), which is proscribed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Corner, simultaneous searches were carried out at more than 25 locations across Sopore, Zaingeer, and Rafiabad with assistance from other security agencies. The raids were launched following credible intelligence inputs suggesting renewed efforts by JeI-linked elements to revive their activities under different fronts.
During the operation, police recovered a significant quantity of incriminating material, including documents, digital devices, and printed content with links to the banned outfit. These items have been seized for further examination, and several individuals are being questioned regarding their involvement in unlawful activities.
Officials said the operation is part of Sopore Police’s ongoing preventive strategy aimed at dismantling the terror-separatist network and disrupting its ideological and logistical infrastructure.
Police emphasized that the raids are preventive and intelligence-based, carried out to safeguard peace and stability in the region and to ensure that no banned organization or individual is allowed to disturb the existing security environment.
Sopore Police reiterated their firm commitment to continue such operations against all elements associated with proscribed organizations and terror networks to maintain lasting peace and security in the district.
