Surge in Dog Bite Cases in Rajouri, 13 Injured and Treated at GMC

Rajouri, Jan 27: A sudden rise in dog bite incidents was reported in Rajouri on Tuesday, with at least 13 people sustaining injuries since morning, officials from the Anti-Rabies Section of the Department of Community Medicine at GMC Rajouri said.

According to officials, the first incident involved a 30-year-old man, Kali Ram, who was bitten on the face, including the forehead, near Salani Bridge in Rajouri. Following this, 12 more cases were reported from different locations across the district, suggesting that the incidents were scattered and not confined to a particular area.

Those injured include Puneet Sharma (40) from Chatyari, Farooq Hussain (51) from Malyar Mohalla, Pappu (52) from Bella Bridge, Nusrat Kosser (30) from Panhad, Karam Pal (30) from Salani Bridge, Mohd Kalam (7) from Malik Market, Nirmal (26) and Tilak Raj (60) from Dhangri, Aqib (9) from Doordarshan Bala, Altaf Hussain (46) from Panjgrain, Mehran (5) from Darhali Bridge and Amir Khan (18) from Salani.

Health officials said all the injured persons were promptly treated at GMC Rajouri, where they received proper wound management along with Anti-Rabies Vaccine and Anti-Rabies Serum in line with standard treatment protocols.

Meanwhile, health authorities have urged the public to remain alert and immediately report any animal bite to the nearest health facility to ensure timely medical care and prevent complications.
