Srinagar, Sep 27: Terrorists are positioned at launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate into Kashmir, but security forces are fully prepared to thwart any attempt, BSF Inspector General (Kashmir Frontier) Ashok Yadav said on Saturday.
He noted that infiltration bids typically increase before snowfall, as militants seek entry ahead of the winter months when crossings become difficult. “There are still about two months, and they always attempt infiltration before snow blocks their routes. But with our alertness, it is very difficult for them to succeed,” Yadav said.
The BSF IG confirmed the presence of terrorists opposite Bandipora and Kupwara sectors, adding that they often wait for bad weather to make a move. He said security forces, aided by advanced surveillance technology, are closely monitoring the LoC.
“So far this year, two infiltration attempts have been foiled. The LoC is being strongly dominated jointly by the Army and BSF with new methods and hi-tech equipment,” Yadav said.
