New Delhi, Sep 8: Messaging giant WhatsApp faced a major disruption on Monday, leaving users across India unable to send messages or post status updates.
According to outage tracker Downdetector, over 410 complaints were reported by 2:20 p.m. Of these, 54 percent were related to server connection issues, 24 percent to desktop usage, and 22 percent to the mobile app.
Many frustrated users turned to social media to confirm the issue, with posts like “#WhatsApp is down!!” and “WhatsApp web down?” trending on X. Some even joked about missing their daily “good morning GIFs” in family groups.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has not released an official statement yet on the cause of the outage.
This isn’t the first disruption this year. In April, WhatsApp services were down for hours, while a massive global outage in February had affected messaging, calls, and WhatsApp Web for millions of users.
