Sujit Kumar Assumes Charge as IGP Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 27: Senior IPS officer Sujit Kumar has assumed charge as the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, following a major overhaul of the senior police hierarchy in Jammu and Kashmir.Kumar, a 2007-batch AGMUT cadre officer, has been entrusted with the command of Kashmir Zone after being shifted from his previous assignment as IGP Security, J&K. He succeeds Bhim Sen Tuti, who has been posted as IGP Headquarters at Police Headquarters.The reshuffle, involving several senior IPS and JKPS officers, was ordered by the government with immediate effect, triggering significant changes in key operational and administrative assignments.Vivek Gupta has been appointed IGP Security, J&K, while Tejinder Singh has been posted as IGP Jammu Zone.The latest reorganisation comes at a time when the police establishment faces heightened security, counter-insurgency and law-and-order challenges across the Union Territory.
